related KS is decreasing in all these groups at about an equal rate, again for unknown reasons. Recent data indicate that there may be groups of people who do not acquire the disease despite repeated exposure to the virus .
AIDS-related KS occurs through transmission of the virus from the body fluids of an infected person. There is no evidence of spread through casual contact. The rate of contagion with infected blood is high; lesser rates of spread are thought to occur with other body fluids including semen, urine, vaginal fluids and (very rarely) saliva.
